Herbs have been grown since biblical times. The leaves are not only used, but often stems and roots are used too. Some flowers and seeds are used in perfumes and dyes.

Florida Herbs

Some herbs like a semi-sunny spot, but most should be protected from our hot Florida sun. Many do well as hanging baskets and border plants.

Herbs are similar to vegetables as the require well-drained soil with improved organic matter. Fertilize with a good liquid plant food, lightly, once a month. Many Florida herbs may be purchased in seed packets or as potted transplants at your local garden centers.
